Background
The State of Qatar is one of the fastest growing economy in the Middle East, attracting unprecedented investments related to property, infrastructure, utilities and major industry, particularly in the oil and gas industry, petrochemical and construction sectors.
To ensure environmental sustainability of the country’s resources, conservation objectives and clean living environment, the Ministry of Municipality & Environment (MME) has promulgated a legal framework for control and management of its environment under the Environmental Protection Law Decree No.(30) and the related regulations. Under this Law, the MoE has the authority to administer and enforce a set of environmental standards.
The applicability of the standards is typically outlined in the Consent to Construct and the Consent to Operate documents issued by the MME to the regulated facilities or activities.
